Carina Imbrogno is a self-taught, internationally award winning artist and illustrator based in Connecticut, USA. She paints and draws in a realistic style and the details she infuses into her work breathes life into the subjects of her drawings and paintings.
Throughout her life, Carina has struggled with severe health issues and disabilities but she taken these physical and emotional struggles and poured them into her art. She believes her mission in life is to inspire others with her story and art.
Carina works in a variety to media including gouache, dyes, watercolors, color pencil, graphite, acrylics, oils and now pastels. Her favorite subjects are people, pets, wildlife, landscapes, nature, still lives and botanicals.
Carina Imbrogno Artist Biography
Carina Imbrogno is a disabled self-taught award winning inspirational artist who began her art in 2015 at the age of 40. She suffers from a genetic disorder called Elhers Danlos Syndrome kyphoscoliosis. She has two rods and twenty-six screws holding her collapsed spine. She also suffers from severe learning disabilities. Carina enjoys pastels. In 2019, she discovered pastels and it has become the medium of choice. She has created over 140 works of art since 2015 and 85 of them are pastels.
Carina Imbrogno Artist Statement
I was inspired to start my own art after I discovered the life and art of child prodigy Akiane Kramarik and wild life artist Richard Macwee. Art is my passion and the best therapy for my genetic disorder. I enjoy nature as a source of inspiration and I feel extremely grateful to share my art and my story with the world.
