Ken Murphy is an award-winning artist based in Mississippi, USA.
Ken believes photography can tell a powerful story and he has published a variety of coffee table books. Ken invites viewers to see life through the lens of his camera and his photographs are attention-grabbing and thought-provoking, often telling layered stories about the subject.
Ken won Best in Show in Fusion Art’s 8th Annual Waterscapes Art Exhibition in August 2023.
Ken Murphy lives near the Mississippi Sound in South Mississippi and photographing the natural environment has been a lifelong pursuit. These images were made within minutes of his home and are representative of his lifestyle, on the water. Ken could never live off of any coastline. The beauty is ever changing yet consistent. Ken believes his job is to document GOD and Mother Nature's creations.
When I first discovered the photography, quite literally by accident, I discovered the photographic coffee table book by Elliott Porter, “In Wilderness Is The Preservation of The World”, published by Sierra Club books on Jan. 1, 1962.
It affected my desire for high quality images and is still a benchmark for quality in my mind when judging the quality of my own books.
Although I have a BFA degree in photography and can shoot any subject with any format camera, I choose to document God’s beauty of the place where I live, the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
