Ruth Egnater is an award winning artist based in Perry, Michigan, USA. She comes from an artistic family - her great grandfather, grandfather, and mother were all professional artists. She has experimented with many mediums including pottery, oil painting, watercolor, life drawing, jewelry making, basket weaving and loom weaving.
She believes strongly in giving back to the community by donating her time and art to fundraising events, teaching art classes at local nursing homes and volunteering at camps and other non-profit organizations. Ruth has also donated numerous prints to non-profit organizations to raise money at charitable events and art equipment to schools that are in need.
By surrounding herself in natural beauty, Ruth is inspired to create playful images. Most of her prints are whimsical, not realistic but a playful dose of her imagination and humor. She draws inspiration from nature, animals, and life’s beauty.
She spends her days in the studio with her dog Phoebe and Joey the cat, her self-declared assistants. With their company, she dedicates as much time as possible to create prints that have bits and pieces of life challenges and triumphs.
Ruth Egnater was born in Detroit, Mi. She has been creating art since her first memories. Currently working as full time printmaker she has been accepted to exhibitions and competitions in the United States and abroad. Nearly all her prints showcase her passion for animals, nature, and often her sense of humor.
My retirement from my nursing career gave me time to do some serious work on regaining my health and stir up some courage to start doing art full time. My studio is situated by water, forest and a bird sanctuary and my surroundings influence my prints. I have been an outdoor enthusiast all my life, and the majority of my art reflects my love of all creatures, big and small.
